Preparing for the Voyage, Getting Ready to go ... A To Do List

We want to supply a getting ready to go "To Do List."  What was on your list?  What particular items did you forget?  Email your contribution to tami@saltysailors.com.  Help others "be prepared."

1)  Do the Paperwork:

1. Order your Customs & Border Protection Decal/Transponder.  You must do this if your vessel is 30' or more.  In 2007 it cost $27.50.  You can do this online at:  US Customs/Travel.  Select Pleasure Boat & then follow the instructions.

1. Get your US Coast Guard Boat Documentation (if you already have it, make sure it has not expired).  You can get the forms here:  Vessel Documentation Forms.

1. Get your passport (if you already have it, make sure it has not expired).  If you are getting a new passport, you must do so in person.  A renewal my be done by mail.  Here's the details:  US Passport.

2)  Order extra engine parts.

3)  Make an inventory list of where you put everything.  This comes in very handy when the boat is packed to the gills!
